Hello,
I just installed the the genealogy program Gramps, and the launch icon was put into the "Office" category in the Menu. This isn't where I would think to look for it. Is it possible to move it to another category? If so, can I use the GUI, or do I need to go into a configuration file somewhere and change it there?
Going further, is it possible to create custom categories, and move icons into these?

Yes, yes and yes again! Open the Cinnamon menu editor that can be found on the Preferences submenu, it does everything you're asking about.
