File extension as determinator to open file with application

Post by JohnML »

Howto associate file extension *.lpi with Lazarus for example?

Example:
project1.lpi is a XML-Document mime-type , but i need to open *.lpi files with lazarus-application per double-click in Nemo

Create a lazarus.desktop file?

Googled in vain so far .. :-(

Two easy ways, usually(*)
- rt-click on the file -> open with -> other application -> enter the program name (e.g. lazarus) AND check "use this as default".
or
- there's usually some program in the menus to set file associations.

A .desktop file will get created automagically.
