When I try to wake the screen from the screen blanking, I just get DisplayPort No Signal. This has been happening only for the past week (Jan 2018). I've traied all kinds of plugging/unplugging.
The only way I can get back in is via restarting the window manager. e.g. sudo service mdm restart.
I tried killing the cinnamon-screensaver with no luck.
Once I restart mdm, it's all good again. Until I walk away and the screen blanks.
I can ctrl-shit-F1 to a tty and login from there. So I think that means the graphics hardware is fine.
Is anyone else experiencing this? How would you suggest debugging?
I'm running Mint 18.3 Cinnamon. The machine has been solid for several years. It's an ASUS i7 motherboard driving an ASUS 1440p panel over DisplayPort. HDMI will not support 1440p ion this motherboard. So DisplayPort is my only option. Also, there is no graphics card other than what's on the motherboard and cpu.
Thanks
