Cinnamon crash every time I start the laptop

Post by overkill22 »

At every startup, when I login I've got the message from cinnamon that says that cinnamon crash, I'm running in fallback mode, and ask me if I want to restart cinnamon.
At the beginning was just once in a while, now it is 8 times on 10.

What could it be?

Distributor ID:	LinuxMint
Description:	Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya

I don't know which other info you need, let me know.

I'll read the links, I can also go back to an older kernel, but honestly I don't remember which one was working.

The old kernel is still installed and but inactive look in the 4.4.section from what I read and your system info.

update try the kernel 4.4.0-109 than reboot see if cinnamon still still crashes. this one is patched also

This is a very old kernel, if I'm not mistaken this had some problems with my laptop that solved with the 4.12 (but I don't remember exactly, have to search the old posts)

The kernel you are using now is 4.13.31 I suggest using timeshift to backup your system on a different backup drive and upgrade to mint 18.3 though update manager. See if the crashes is fixed if not install select 4.13.0-32 see if this fixes the crash if not must go back to 4.10.

how to install timeshift
