Eye of Gnome (Image Viewer) button text colour

Post by tipichris »

I have recently upgraded from Ubuntu Trusty and Xenial and installed cinnamon. Mostly things are working fine, but the text on buttons in Eye of Gnome is almost the same colour as the button backgrounds. I can't work out why, or what controls this. I'm using the Cinnamon theme, with Adwaita window borders and controls. Changing the controls to Radiance partially solves the issue, and High Contrast completely solves it, but is ugly. No other application appears to have this issue.

If the default themes don't work for you, there are lots of themes available for download on various websites, such as:
cinnamon-spices - http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/themes
linuxmint-art.org - http://linuxmint-art.org/content/search.php
gnome-look.org - http://gnome-look.org/content/search.php
deviantart.com - http://www.deviantart.com/?q=cinnamon+theme#
opendesktop.org - http://opendesktop.org/content/search.php
noobslab.com - http://www.noobslab.com/p/themes-icons.html
ubuntuthemes.org - http://www.ubuntuthemes.org/

Extract the downloaded theme from the zipped download (tar.gz) file by right-clicking on the file > Open with Archive Manager > Extract. Then move the extracted folder into your /home/user/.themes folder.
If /home/yourusername/.themes does not exist, you will have to create it first. Open a terminal and enter:
mkdir $HOME/.themes

Make sure any Cinnamon theme you download has been updated to be compatible with the version of Cinnamon that you are running.
Mint 18.2 Cinnamon, Quad core AMD A8-3870 with Radeon HD Graphics 6550D, 8GB DDR3, Ralink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI

Changing the theme seems to make no difference to the problematic bits of eye of gnome. Other things change, but not EoG. It's as if it is getting it's colour scheme from somewhere else. But where?

As a work around I've installed Eye of Mate, which looks just like EoG used to in an earlier version.
