Brightness

Post by Valdo »

Unstable brightness control. I set the brightness to 10%, after resetting the laptop, the brightness has a maximum value of 100%.

Hello, can you please post the result of the following terminal command, and enclose it in code tags? That's the button marked </>.
This is needed for pretty much any question about your system, so it's a good habit to post it straight away.

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
Also I've downloaded your document, and that's not exactly the most convenient way to present the content... it's just text, better to paste it into the message itself. I'll just paste the content here for others to see:
Laptop Asus N73SM

OS: Linux Mint 18.3 (Kernel: Linux 4.10.0-38-generic)

GPU Geoforce 630M/PCIe/SSE2
Open GL version 4.5.0 NVIDIA 384.11

Monitor 1920x1080 60.02Hz

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
RAM 7890 MB

If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!

Reason: Adding code tags [</>]. They retain some formatting that makes your output easier to read.

Im tested followed applets and activities: xbacklight, xrandr, setpci, Cuttlefish, Brightness and gamma applet. Some of them could not be installed either (e.g. Brightness and gamma applet). There is any another solution for permanent setting of brightness? A similar problem was in the previous OS installation LM 17.3 Cinnamon, but Im solved it with any of above mentioned activities. This is serious problem and I consider to return back to LM 17.3 Cinnamon, or Windows.

The brightness and gamma applet works on my desktop computer in 18.3 Cinnamon but is not perfect. Why you can not load it is a mystery.

I noticed that you have not updated the kernel.
