exit fullscreen video after snapping and window resizing

If I snap a window playing a video (firefox, VLC, SMPlayer, etc.) to the side, top or in a corner,
then resize the window (even just slightly in any direction),
put video on fullscreen,
exit fullscreen,
the window suddenly goes all over the screen (almost maximised)
instead of going back to its original sized window.

I hope you guys can fix this window-resizing flaw in time for the new LTS release.
