Re: Clonezilla Question
You can only go to the same size or larger.

One thing I would suggest, create a partition as a 50G partition as /. Partition the rest as /Home. IF the system fails, reinstall and use the exact same username and all your 'stuff' comes back to you.

Re: Clonezilla Question
using Gparted you can copy individual Partitions, provided the original/parent is not too big to fit.
If the parent is too big it can first be reduced in size, reducing the free space. Then copy to the second drive.

Re: Clonezilla Question
How does one use GParted to copy.?
I read the Tutorial and it doen't say anywhere how to copy.
My Swap file is 4GBs
My Boot file partition is 44GBs
The remainder of the 2TB is for "/home" which can easy be less.
Please tell.

Re: Clonezilla Question
viewing the parent drive: right click on the partition, copy will be one of the options.
then viewing the target drive: right click on the free space and select paste.
if you have problems with that ask again.

Re: Clonezilla Question
Hi PlutoPup,
I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well.
Regarding Clonezilla Live, If the existing 2tb drive's content uses less space than the size of the new destination drive 1tb, then yes you can use it for this. I have done this before using the advanced options.

Clonezilla Clone Larger Disk to Smaller Disk-WorkaroundIs that possible I can restore to smaller HDD when the image was taken from bigger one?
If you are sure the used data blocks on the source disk are within the disk boundary of destination one, yes, it's possible to make that with the options "-k1" and "-icds" enabled in the expert mode.

That must be something new. What I get for not upgrading old software! (My copy ~ 5 years old...)
