I have ran into this weird issue with Dell Lattitude 5580 and System76 Galago Pro (galp 3) as both are brand new. I updated both to the latest updates and all but after a couple of weeks using them my interactive activities such as typing, swtiching windows would suffer a long delay up to a couple of seconds from one action to the next. For example, when I type something things become unresponsive right in the middle of my typing and the letters might not show up immediately or I just could not start typing the next letters or words. In the case of moving around and clicking on windows and switching around things do not happen right away but there are long delays between the actions.
These are multicore Intel machines with at least 16 gigs of RAM, SSDs and decent graphic cards (Intel or Nvidia) and I just do not think the laptop got hacked or compromised for crypto mining or anything because the CPUs usage are neglible. When I ran top/htop, the loads have been nothing, and there has been no swapping or anything. I checked wireless/wired interfaces and there have been no excessive traffics. I have not tuned the SSD but running iotop I could not see any big write/read (just some less than 300 K/s disk writes here and there). I check ed the interrupts and suspected accessive interrupts might be the causes but upon doing some research irqbalance seems to be the norm to have on multicore laptops. I am out of ideas of what could be wrong. I have another thinkpad and it works just fine without any issue using the same version of Mint (Cinammon).
