SOLVED -Shooter Games dowloaded from the software manger Lock-Up Linux Mint Cinnamon

Post by PlutoPup »

On 3 computers with AMD 4 Cores, and at least 8GBs of Ram,
I downloaded from the software manager - under Games - from the category, 'First-Person Shooters', several of the Shooter games and did so on each computer. The games locked up the computers while some would play for a minute or two and then lock up. 'Alien Arena' said it installed but was no where to be found. The same on all the computer.

Everything else I do on the computers work Flawlessly and the systems never lock up. I removed all the shooter games. Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.2

Anyone have Shooter games work.?

It show the CPU to as a dual core but the FX-4130 is a 4 core. Puzzling.!

Have you tried opening the Mint Driver Manager to see if there's an Nvidia binary driver listed there? I wouldn't recommend going to the nvidia site for proprietary drivers generally, as dumb as that sounds to WIndows users. The Linux drivers at the mfr's sites are usually buggy and the wrong versions.
