display the current kernel version on the desktop
i want to display the current kernel version on the desktop. eg the output of "uname -r", in the bottom right of the Mint 19 Cinnamon desktop.
Re: display the current kernel version on the desktop
I have thought about this to display other info but never really played with it but I think conky is what you may be looking for. Just put conky in the search box and you will lots of threads on this forum or start here

You can definitely display the kernel version you are running on the desktop where you want it and a gazillion other things as well if you so desire.
If you are lucky someone here may just tell you how to write a conky script to do exactly what you want. There are really some expert conky people on this forum so if you put the term conky in your post title like "need conky help to put kernel version on desktop" you may get their attention and help.
There is also something called screenFetch but again I never really explored it.
