I normally work with 4 workspaces, but when I open a .txt file in one workspace it also appears in all workspaces.
Is there a setting I have missed ?
This is mint 18.3 with Cinnamon.

Right click on the Windows list applet entry for your text editor.
Select 'Only on this Workspace'.
Select 'Only on this Workspace'.
