Edit cursor question...

Post by invex » Thu Sep 06, 2018 12:11 am

The edit cursor in all programs is thin and grey.
Is it set by each program or is it set by the desktop environment?
If by desktop environment, can the color be changed?
TIA

It's not. It's a cursor from Kate editor.
The same cursor is in Xed etc.

Hi invex,

Although it is easy to change cursor themes, I have not found a way to change the "edit cursor" (vertical bar) as you call it in applications. This "text cursor" (caret?) is in most applications when editing something.

I would be interested in knowing how to do this as well because it would be nice to have text cursor (caret) thicker (larger) and perhaps change its color.

FYI: From my preliminary research I found these articles.

Hi,

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking the edit cursor should be more visible :)
I vaguely remember Windows allowed to change thickness and color under Accessibility.

I tried https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=954607 but it didn't work :(

I don't want to change the cursor's appearance, I'd liket to make it more visible. Ideally, I'd like it to blink at a rate I can set to my liking.

Perceived movement attracts the eye far better than any particular shape... ;)
