[SOLVED] after adding guest, can't login in to my main account

I am on mint 18.1 - cinnamon.
I added a new user guest as a standard account . then,
I used "Login Window" from system settings and disabled both the check boxes. (automatic login, timed login?)

Now I cannot login to my main account and the guest account is the one that goes through.
I cannot even see the option to select the user. If i try to access "Login Window" , it doesnot open either.
how to login to my main admin account is the question.
help me. thanks

Can you log out and press F1 to enter main acct name?

a little googling took me to the command -
sudo gpasswd -d guest nopasswdlogin
and I can now see the login screen to select the user.
