My CPU is an Intel N3530 (not an N3540) which as far as I know was advertised as a Duo-core processor that is now identified "by "inxi -Fxz" as a quad-core CPU. Is this the issue causing the random freezing of my system? Here is the output from "inxi -Fxz" as I was asked to perform:

Hi, it will be the Baytrail CSTATE bug which affects your processors ability to idle properly with resultant overheating and freezing

The workaround is described here https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... l?m=1#ID25

Dear Smurphos, sorry I did not catch your pointer first time around but now I do, many thanks for sharing your knowledge it is really good of you to help me as my laptop was damaged when it hit a stone floor taking my Windows OS, a year of software installation all ready to do some serious work but alas!
Now I have installed an SSD and installed some "overprovisioning" a.k.a. unallocated space. I found a reference on YouTube describing "Goldenfir" as a budget SSD but with the same chips and controller as much more expensive producers. Last year 1TB was selling at UKPS87.00 from 1 or more suppliers under AliExpress.
Now I feel more secure about my data in portable format. Currently writing this on my trusty Raspberry Pi plugged into my HDMI TV. It too can be rigged to use a large RAID HDD array as a personal cloud as demonstrated by Novaspirit on YouTube last week. That then gives you access to all your personal data from your mobile devices via mobile data services. I can recommend 3Mobile for their mobile data services as this appears second to none with unlimited data for UKPS3.00 pcm. If you want to run a distributed office this is feasible at these rates. Skype with unlimited landline subscription for the whole of Europe still makes sense?
I do hope some of this will be useful in part exchange for your help? I will let you know how I progress with this intriguing issue.
All the best, arclite
