[Solved] On desktop contextmenu "+Make new starter..." does nothing.
For 2 weeks now i am trying to find out what that option does in my context menu on the desktop:
"+ Make a new starter..." (in dutch it says "+ Maak hier een nieuwe starter..." so i don't know exactly what it says in english)
I guess it has something to do with making a new shortcut to start a program?? But it does nothing...

Also the Shortcut Editor does nothing... mouse icon shows for a few seconds that it is loading something then nothing!
I will look in that topic, thanx.

The patch will allow the launcher dialog to open, then use
gnome-terminal -e <command>
in the command fieldIt's a workaround---but this should be mitigated by a future update.

The patch in that topic worked for me! Context menu is working again, thanx!
[Edit] and it fixed my very annoying problem of having no shadows around windows!!
Shortcut Editor still not working.. same problem, mouse icon busy for few seconds and then nothing..

Well.. after a reboot the shadows are gone again!! Very annoying, it is hard to see where a windows/titlebar begins or ends..
Re: [Solved] On desktop contextmenu "+Make new starter..." does nothing.
I suggest opening a new topic for the shadows problem.

I just solved that one.. i was working all this time on software rendering mode! No idea why that happened?? But it all looks much smoother now!!
Still the Shortcut editor does nothing.. i have no clue why? Is that the same as the context menu making a new starter?

Lucky you! I can't find a way to get rid of the stupid shadows! I'm using the extension "Transparent panels" along with a transparency script from the theme I've installed. Everything is perfect except for one thing: when I maximimze any window, it comes with a shadow which makes the 100% transparent panel ugly by adding a shadow to it. The panel kinda looks like a smoked glass with that shadow.

Try to set cinnamon on software rendering before login! My shadows are gone if i do that..
But i'm glad they are back! I can imagine that it is ugly with transparent windows, but normally it is very annoying because my theme has no borderlines. So a few windows overlapping and it becomes a mess and i can't see which piece goes with which window!?
But do you have a screenshot? I'm curious at your theme..

Re: [Solved] On desktop contextmenu "+Make new starter..." does nothing.
The windows themselves are not transparent. Only the panel and the context menus are. The menu is somewhat transparent, but not fully. The theme is Cinnamox-Rhino by smurphos.
And why would I use software rendering, considering I also play games on Steam and I need the hardware rendering? I wanna get rid of the shadows without using software rendering.

Add the line
MUFFIN_NO_SHADOWS=1
to /etc/environment
, log off and log back on.For custom Nemo actions, useful scripts for the Cinnamon desktop, and Cinnamox themes visit my Github pages.
Re: [Solved] On desktop contextmenu "+Make new starter..." does nothing.
When I used that extention before, it had settings and I could choose whether or not to show that shadow. If that's not the problem here, you should really start a thread of your own about this problem instead of hi-jacking one that is about a different problem and posted by a different member.Valsodar wrote: ⤴Fri Feb 22, 2019 10:21 pm I'm using the extension "Transparent panels" along with a transparency script from the theme I've installed. If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!
