Volume graphic/overlay stretched/distorted after adjusting screen resolution

Post by dpacbach »

Version: Linux Mint 19.1 with latest updates
Desktop: Cinnamon

Hello, when I adjust the volume a square volume graphic/overlay pops up showing the current volume, and that is working fine. However, when I lower my desktop resolution, then increase it back again, that volume graphic appears stretched (same for the screen brightness one). Anyone seen this before? Is there a resolution for it?

Procedure for reproducing:
1) Set resolution to e.g. 3840x2160
2) Adjust volume, note that volume graphic looks good
3) Lower resolution to e.g. 1920x1080
4) Adjust volume, note that volume graphic looks good
5) Increase resolution back to 3840x2160
6) Adjust volume, note that volume graphic is vertically stretched/distorted

Thanks

Did you try restarting Cinnamon to see what would happen? Sometimes that fixes problems.

When I do the following:

"pressing Alt + F2 , type r , and press Enter"

it seems to fix it. Any way that I could do that with a command from the command line? Thank you
