NumLock not activated by default after installation

Post by mitsubishi » Mon Mar 11, 2019 4:14 pm

Hello,

1. Why Numlock is not activated by default when the OS is been installed? :? Every time i have to download "numlockxx" and then have to go to the settings, to activate that option.
2. After login, numlock is not turned ON if i try to download some updates or install some software, i have to press numlock button.
In both cases, numlock shoud be activated(in my opinion).

Turning NumLock on at boot is a setting in the BIOS. The BIOS can be accessed by tapping "Delete" immediately when the BIOS Logo appears. On some computers it is the "Esc" key that opens the BIOS. Save your change before Exit and resume normal boot.

You can also tap the NumLock key on your keyboard to turn it on or off.

Hi, Not hijacking the post.

I have the same problem also - everytime we switch user Numlock switches off and also at boot its off even though enabled in BIOS.
Suppose I just have to reach over and press the damn button myself.
Better still could hire someone to do it for me but they better be quick.

On any Linux machine I have had, whatever setting for NumLock is active when the system is shut down is maintained at re-boot. So after an install, or creating a new user account (where NumLock is off by default) it is only necessary to switch NumLock on once and then it is on by default after any re-boot / re-start.
