How can I keep apps in the workspace in which they were original opened avoiding them to gain focus when working on a different workspace

System Settings > Windows > Behaviour

Set Bring windows that require attention to current workspace to off.
Set Prevent focus stealing to on

I already had this configuration, works for some apps and others not, in some cases you are switched to the workplace where the app was started for other apps they just pop up in the workspace where you are working. Looks that the behaviour is controlled by the app and not by the OS
