Behind desktop manager

Post by flesh-drive »

My PC isn't very powerful and very often my PC got halted, screen got freezed and so on.
I want to cease all processes in linux mint and just like windows 10s task manager force stop the programs. Or at least make custom shortcut for that purposes.
How to do that.
THQ in advance.

The System Monitor allows you to stop processes.
Since your computer is not too powerful, wouldn't you be better off running something else than Cinnamon, the heaviest desktop environment that Mint comes with?

If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!

Agreed, if it's old slow hardware Cinnamon is never going to run very well.

ANd yes, you can stop processes, but Linux is so modular compared to Windows it's a lot harder to figure out which ones to stop.

Hello, flesh-drive.

If you do not mind, then, please, post the screen output of the terminal command inxi -Fxz.
This will give us a concise overview on your hardware.
Would be a much better basis to judge which Mint desktop environment may be adequate than terms like "old" and "slow" only.

Below is the inxi -Fxz report, generated on an old (2009), slow (Atom CPUs) Zotac mini desktop, which runs on Mint 19 32-bit Cinnamon.
It is slow like a dead snail on valium. Yet, it does not freeze or get stuck otherwise. It keeps on teaching patience constantly only.
