When connecting a second monitor, animation and frequency deteriorate

Post by poulfly »

Hello, when using two monitors, the animation is noticeably worse and the refresh rate of the screen is noticeably reduced. I feel it visually, but 144hz is programmatically displayed in the system. I want to clarify, 2 monitors are used, 1 of them is the main 144hz and the second 60hz. But even if I now turn off the second monitor at 60hz in the monitor settings, the first one starts working at 144hz and it immediately becomes noticeable.

I noticed this when I had to reinstall the OS to the latest version of linux mint, before that which version I did not remember, it seems it was version 20. So then these monitors worked correctly and the main monitor actually worked at a frequency close to 144hz

You have a very new cpu. I would recommend you switch to the 5.8 kernel in Upgrade Manager.

Open Update Manager. Select View > Linux Kernels and click Continue. Make sure 5.8 is selected on the left panel and then click the top-most option on the right panel. An "Install" button will appear. Install the kernel and then reboot for it to become active.

You are most likely using a different version Nvidia driver than you were before, and that could also be a factor in this difference. I do not know if there is a newer version available in Driver Manager, but if the kernel change does not help, you may want to try the Nvidia-450 driver.
