Mint 20.1 cinnamon desktop menu does not start properly

Post by meetryanw »

There seems to be some problems when I use System Monitor to end other processes, and the Start Menu can not load properly ,
Nothing happens when press the `super` button too.

After the system is started, the menu is not loaded normally, and the notification is displayed as follows:
boot end notification
boot end notification
Roughly means:

Code: Select all

cinnamon started successfully, but one or more applets, desktop applets or extensions failed to load
I follow the prompts to view the glass log, the log error is as follows:
the glass log show
the glass log show
The complete log is as follows:

Code: Select all

I found another similar post on the forum(viewtopic.php?p=1106562#p1106562), referring to the method of modifying the `menus` and `dconf` folder in the `.config` directory. But it is still useless after logging out and logging in again.

The practice of another post is as follows:

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=1106562#p1106562
What should I do to make the menu load normally? Be grateful.

I tried to uninstall cinnamon desktop to reinstall by following command :

Code: Select all

1. Enter the user name and password to log in to the character terminal:
ctrl+alt+F1
2. Remove and delete config of cinnamon:
sudo apt autoremove --purge cinnamon
3. Install cinnamon desktop environment:
sudo apt install cinnamon*
4. Install lightDM login manager
sudo apt install lightdm
5. Start X service:
startx
6. Reboot mint system:
reboot
But it can't enter the desktop normally when starting, prompt:
cinnamon-session-cinnamon.png

Code: Select all

unable to launch "cinnamon-session-cinnamon" X session --- "cinnamon-session-cinnamon" not-found;falling back to default session
Execute "Ctrl+Alt+F1"again to enter the character terminal, and execute the following command:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install cinnamon-screensaver mint-meta-cinnamon nemo nemo-fileroller nemo-share

Code: Select all

reboot
After restarting again, I found that the notification did not report an exception
So I opened the glass log to view the log, there are indeed no red error parts in the log.
So I right-clicked on the panel to open the system settings and tried to enable the menu in the applet,
add_menu_applet.png
Fortunately, the menu appears on the panel normally.
