VPN icon not displayed when active

I have opened an issue with network@cinnamon.org failing to display the proper icon when a VPN is operating. The issue is here:

I have attached an image showing the problem. I did not encounter this problem until changing VPNs. The new VPN is policy based and appears to not be properly detected by the applet.

I didn't have any of the VPN applets installed. I downloaded one just to see and it is flagged here as well. The applet that is not working correctly as shown in my initial post is the Network Manager applet. That is not flagged in the applet display.

I can't remember if my Network Manager icon turned into the VPN icon when I enabled my VPN or if I always had an VPN applet doing that.
Right now though, I can't enable the VPN connections option there no matter if I'm using a VPN or not.

And I can't get the VPN applets working except for IP Indicator, which probably doesn't help you but weird that I'm noticing all this now...
