Hot corners with multi-monitor setup on Mint 21

Post by bylertech »

Hello all,

I've benefited from reading discussions on this forum numerous times in the past three years as I became acquainted with Linux Mint. This is my first post, so I appreciate your patience. Feel free to correct me if I'm posting in the wrong sub-forum and tell me what additional info is needed to answer my question.

Here's my problem: I have three monitors arranged in a horizontal row and really would like the hot corners to be the outermost corners of my monitor setup, not the corners of the primary monitor. The center monitor is currently set as primary.

I could not get this to work as desired on LM 20.2 or 20.3, and nothing has changed on 21. As best I can tell there was a fix developed here https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/pull/9550 but it was never merged into the official LM code. With all the changes to Cinnamon in LM 21, the rebasing of Muffin, etc. I'm pretty sure that fix is of no use anymore, at least not to a non-programmer like me. I did try manually editing hotCorners.js and layout.js in LM 20.3 but it made no difference.

I admit I'm surprised at how little information or discussion I find about this. Apparently relatively few people use hot corners on a multi-monitor setup, or if they do, they don't care about this detail of how it functions. Should I file this as a feature request instead?
