alt+space quick keys

Post by timjae »

Hello,

I usually use "alt+space -> m" to maximize my windows from keyboard... That feature seems to have disappeared in 21. Is there a possibility it could come back? I think it's in most everything else.

Thanks for your help.

Keyboard shortcuts can be added in Cinnamon by Menu - Keyboard - Shortcut Tab.

For maximising a Window it is the first item under the Windows tab.
On my Cinnamon 20.3 it is unassigned.

Cinnamon in every version since LM17 ( my first experience )
has always honored the WinKey "SuperKey" + D ( lowercase ) just like in MS Windows.

so Win-D and it will collapse the screen to the Desktop, or back to where it was.

I just tried alt-space-m and it does nothing in LM20.3 Cinnamon natively.
I use just about all of the kybd shortcuts as it seems you do, but that one I never used :?

Darn no more default? I like your defaults usually :) It's alt+space -> x in Windows. The hot keys are underlined -- its a menu thing. ''

I got used to the alt+space -> m. Guess I'll move on.

Thanks again,

Usually if you hit alt+space the Window Menu drops down and the hot keys are underlined. I think alt+space -> n would minimize the window.

I used to use these because I would be in a Data Center without a mouse close by, so I usually get around without one.

Just wondered why it disappeared.

I just upgraded everything to 21 so I have no idea now LOL.

Pretty sure it started in Windows 3.11.

The shortcut you are missing got lost because of a bug in Cinnamon 5.4. It will hopefully reappear in Cinnamon 5.6. Until then you can install this extension. It does not work perfectly, but it is a workaround.

You can use Alt+F10 to toggle the maximized state of the active window.
