Left CTRL behaving weird in Nemo

Post by Rander »

I have no idea how I did this, and it's driving me crazy...

For the last week or so, whenever i press the left ctrl, a circle flashes around the mouse cursor on the screen, like you are trying to highlight the cursor. I believe this to be related to the problem that when pressing F2 to rename a file in Nemo, pressing the ctrl key to try to copy or paste the filename causes the same circle to appear, and Nemo to exit the edit-mode like you pressed Enter or Esc.

There is no problem in any other programs - it even works on the desktop - but not in a folder window. Then again, it does work if using the right ctrl, but when you've gotten used to using the left over the last almost 40 years...

I can't where the setting for this is so I can change it back.

opening your cinnamon menu, Mouse,

Untick/disable " Show position of pointer when the control key is press"

And Yes..I just confirmed this matters ONLY with the left ctrl key..right Ctrl doesn't do it ;)

Hallo!
As i use a graphics tablet on my PC, it's useful for me to show the pointer's (stylus) position pressing ctrl.
The problem is that i need Ctrl key also for different functions (as for example, to select different files etc), It would be helpful to change the use of ctrl-key to some different key or combination. Is it possible?
I'm Using Cinnamon 5.6.7 /Linux Mint 21.1/Kernel: 5.15.0-60.

Here, pressing the left Ctrl while renaming a file deselects it, so I can’t press the sequence Ctrl+V.
Even when right clicking and selecting Rename…, not only using F2.
Luckily I found this thread saying the right Control key works as it should, at least it will be faster than right clicking and using the context menu.
Is there some bug report already?
