How to generate thumbnails for Mint-Y variations?

Post by antrrax »

https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-themes

I'm creating a custom color variation for mint-y through the github repository scripts.

But how do I create thumbnail files? The script didn't do this automatically, it's using the default green color for the controls.

is there any script that generates these thumbnails, in the directory of the new theme generated?
/mint-themes-master/usr/share/themes/Mint-Y-MY_CUSTOM/cinnamon/thumbnail.png

/mint-themes-master/usr/share/themes/Mint-Y-Dark-MY_CUSTOM/cinnamon/thumbnail.png
/mint-themes-master/usr/share/themes/Mint-Y-Dark-MY_CUSTOM/gtk-3.0/thumbnail.png

How to do this?

Are you are trying to change "green" colour into some other colour?

In that case use the GUI based "Theme" instead....

You don't understand, I don't just want to change the color by the gui.
I'm creating a custom color using the scripts available on github. These scripts create everything via the command line. However the thumbnail files mentioned above were not created with the new color. The default green image was used.

I was wondering if there is any automated way to generate these files or any easy way where to get this thumbnail png image? For example, in which interface I find a "button, radio box and check box" equal to the image for me to capture the screen.

These are still not automated. Not on the official repository. I faced the same issues a long time ago and had to create my own scripts. I tried to make it available to everyone with a group of 5 pull requests. They are not merged yet. Take a look at the 5 "Creating Mint-Y-COLOR" on https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-themes/pulls

The ones that you are looking for are:
Creating Mint-Y-COLOR variations is now 100% automated ••• Thumbnails
Creating Mint-Y-COLOR variations is now 100% automated ••• Cinthumb

You can take a look at the complete, well working, big thing on:

https://github.com/SebastJava/mint-yz-theme

There I made it 100% automated, easy to install with a Debian package, with all colours changed to a new custom palette, and other minor changes described in the README file...

Post-scriptum: Don't mess up with your main branch. Create some test branch from your master:

Code: Select all

git checkout -b thumbnails
Pull my two PRs into this new test branch.
