Hello minty friends
Nemo folder emblem icon set in Cinnamon 18
Is there a way to add my own icons so I can make Nemo folders look the way I want?
Can it be done via the emblem set?
At least the devices shows the associated icon of choice

Re: Nemo folder emblem icon set in Cinnamon 18
If you want to use the "gnome-brave-icon-theme", for example - install it:
Then open Menu > Preferences > System Settings > Appearance > Themes > Icons > gnome-brave
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install gnome-brave-icon-theme

/usr/share/icons/(icon-theme-name)/places/number or /usr/share/icons/(icon-theme-name)/(number)/places or replace just /usr/share/icons portion with /home/(user-name)/.iconsopale7000 wrote:Is there a way to add my own icons so I can make Nemo folders look the way I want?
(number) is the size in pixels of the image so a folder of 32 means all images should be 32x32. Which size depends on your Nemo settings. If you are swapping in an existing icon theme it is better to keep it the same extension, .svg or .png and matching size. There are image programs like Gimp or Inkscape to change size or file type.
A dot at the beginning of the folder name makes it hidden. CTRL-H to toggle showing hidden files and folders.
If I understand what you want to do.
Re: Nemo folder emblem icon set in Cinnamon 18
OK what I am looking for is to individuality select a single given folder and set its look and feel. Now the way I understand it is by right clicking on a folder and setting its emblem. the things is the emblem set is always the same set even after changing the icons set in system settings
IN this example I am using Oxygen Navigating to the file system, in the emblems folder for oxygen I see this
However when I wish to set a a folder icon look and feel I right click a given folder folder in Nemo and select an emblem. However the set never changes. Regardless of the systems setting. Emblems appears to act as a Folder Decoration as opposed to setting the entire folder icon look and feel.
From what I understand in Cinnamon we are working with a set of 30 icons, First one being Art and the last one called Web That set of 30 remains a fixed container.
When changing icons in System Settings set I see that Cinnamon will change the look and feel of the default folder look and feel entirely like Pictures or Videos something I wish I could do per folder individual folder basis for the icon entirely not just its decoration.
This is perhaps the way Cinnamon is designed and I can live with that. Thanks for the time.
