Adwaita 'missing'

Hi,

I have been tidying up my themes (clearing out and such) so that I have only the few that I want.
Two that I would like to use both have the sinister black ? on them and when one is selected I get:

'This theme will not look as intended because the required window manager theme 'Adwaita' is not installed.

Now as far as I can see I have all the packages necessary 'Gnome-themes-standard and the 'data package plus various Gnome theme packs.

I have failed to find a solution to this little niggle and have tried (without success) the suggestions here: https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/how-to- ... theme/9039

Any ideas please?

I'm having the same problem. Did you figure this out yet?

For a long time Adwaita contained the window manager/metacity theme as part of the overall theme. That is no longer the case. Adwaita itself is now the default theme for Gtk and is included with it. The window manager theme was removed by the gnome devs since it's no longer needed by gnome shell and/or Gtk.

josephM umm yes but what does that mean in practical terms? Do I require to install/delete something to get rid of the ? on these particular items?

There is your answer fumblepass - I'm still stuck! :?

If "clearing out and such" means deleting the files rather than uninstalling the package, the package with the files you deleted will still show as installed.

Try reinstalling

Code: Select all

gnome-themes-standard
and maybe

Code: Select all

adwaita-icon-theme-full

Flemur Yo thanks. I had already tried the re-install but did it again however still get the same result.

Not a major issue this just very slightly irritating especially as I cannot delete the individual themes via the 'Change Background' window.
Those ? staring at me everytime I go into that particular function. Creepy!!
