Plymouth themes revisited

Postby minitux » Sun Sep 17, 2017 9:06 am

I tried to revisit some plymouth theme found on the web, attached to .tar.gz and instructions to use them.
The themes is for Mint 18 because for Mint 17 (Ubuntu 14.04) the path was different

mint-spinner-logo.tar.gz

Extract the folder in a path of your choice, but for convenience it would be better in /home/user and copy it in /usr/share/plymouth/themes

Code: Select all

sudo cp -r mint-spinner-logo /usr/share/plymouth/themes

To set the theme

Code: Select all

sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/share/plymouth/themes/default.plymouth default.plymouth /usr/share/plymouth/themes/mint-spinner-logo/mint-spinner-logo.plymouth 100

Code: Select all

sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth

and in the terminal screen select the number corresponding to the theme name and press enter
in the end

Code: Select all

sudo update-initramfs -u
and rebbot
