Wallpaper zoomed, and cannot be changed

Post by pedrohgodoys »

I'm using Mint 19 with Cinnamon. When I right click on Desktop, and go to Change Wallpaper > Settings, the options I get there don't work. When I try, I just get a black blink, as if the wallpaper is changing the settings to what I set, but it never happen actually. Any image that I choose, goes zoomed on desktop and I can't change it. I use to put some galaxy/space stuff, or blur things, some landscape, and it getting annoying me a lot now. Even when I right click in image and set as wallpaper, this happens. What can I try more to solve it? I already search here and in other places, but didn't find anything usefull.

My desktop:

Thanks.

//Edit 1: On screen shown before start the section, the wallpapet fit, but after I start the section, the wallpaper get zoomed again. I really don't know how to fix this. Is really annoying.//

Try re-sizing the image so it's the same size as your monitor resolution.
Please edit your original post title to include [SOLVED] if/when it is solved!
Your data and OS are backed up....right?

if your image doesn't match your screen resolution there will always be size differences. this is the same as in windows when you center/zoom/tile/pan the wallpaper.
what is your setting for the wallpaper?

But proportionally it doesnt match? 1920x1080 are the size I use to use. My monitor is 1366x728. The problem is: even I click in Center/Ajust/Etc... the wallpaper just dont change anything. In my Gnome it doesn't happend. Why happen in Mint? I'll try to resize on gimp.

I just did that, and the image after I choose it as wallpaper, the ''zoom'' was BIGGER then the image with higher resolution... I really don't know what to do anymore.

Run sudo chown -Rc $USER:$USER $HOME in a terminal and then try changing your wallpaper mode again. The option you want is 'Zoom'

If that makes no difference report the full output of inxi -Fxz
For custom Nemo actions, useful scripts for the Cinnamon desktop, and Cinnamox themes visit my Github pages.

Thanks anyway. I'm about to back to gnome. I'm lucky with Mint, same as I was with Windows, hahaha

1. right click any where on the desktop
2. left click change desktop background.
3. click on settings tab in new window that opened up.
4. choose the picture aspect the you prefer and this fixes that issue.

hi
try with Firefox or Pale Moon (not Chrome(ium) or Opera)
click right on picture and
Choisir l'image comme fond d'écran
Set as Desktop Background... or something like that

The resolution of 1366x728 is 683:364. The resolution you mention, 1920x1080 is 16:9 (commonly called HD). 1366x768 is almost 16:9 but it's off by just a little. And that little bit can cause some strangeness with perfectly sized backgrounds. It doesn't sound like a background image resolution problem to me though. Something else is going on but I'm not sure just what.
