How do I change themes?
Only new to using this great os but I can't find how to change a theme? I click on the Themes icon and it only lists 3 tabs. They are Themes Add/Remove and Setting? Isn't there some easy way of changing a theme? Like for instance I download New Minty and just select it as the whole theme?

Re: How do I change themes?
You select a theme for each of the 5 elements shown.
Left mouse clicking on the current theme will give you the available options for that element. You can use the Add/New tab to select a new theme to download, so that it will then appear in the selection process above. You can add things manually (rather than using the Add/New tab) but that tends to be a bit more complicated..

Thanks for that. Yeah that's what I been doing. I still think there could be an easier way that instead of selecting each individual part, you just select the theme and apply all elements. Oh well, still the best distro I've used by far

I agree this
There is already a pre-selection that could be used in every

(GtkTheme = Controls and MetacityTheme = Window borders)

Also, aside from this, you should be aware that some icon themes such as Mint-Y have light and dark variants. There isn't any difference between Mint-Y and Mint-Y-Dark icons except on the actions category. That's for things like some toolbars.
So, you should always select dark icons for dark themes, when available. Or light icons for light themes.

But that's just an edge case. Most toolbars are always okay, being made of truly symbolic icons.

could be better. I was thinking of some sort of simple/advanced mode toggle. It would open in a simple mode where you get to choose all those five selections in just one click. And, if you prefer, you would just click on "advanced settings" to get the five independent selections as you currently get in Cinnamon. The Mate distribution is doing this better, IMHO. There, in Mate menu > preferences > Appearances, you select them all at once, and you can also click on "customize" if you want. There is already a pre-selection that could be used in every

Actually, it should have two settings: Theme and Icons. Cursor shouldn't change.sebastjava wrote: ⤴Sat Jun 18, 2022 9:51 am I agree thiscinnamon-settings themes
