I'm having the same problem described in viewtopic.php?t=305048 (unfortunately the topic is closed). I use Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon.
It is already enabled in advanced settings of Chrome "continue running". A curiosity is that other apps like Discord, Telegram continue to appear in the system tray when they are open, but Chrome no longer does (see attached image). The Chrome icon was appearing normally before, but, out of nowhere, it was gone. It disappeared. The Grouped Window List of Applets is enabled. I do not know what else to do. I will appreciate your help.
