Minty - Our favorite (thank satya164 for this theme) http://browse.deviantart.com/customizat ... /#/d4ljuj5

Trans-Blues - a very strange theme http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ ... ent=148013

Maybe we should open a new thread on the forum which is related by Cinnamon topics
I would like to request that Daniel4lm put the working themes posted in this forum for Cinnamon 1.2 in his first post. Thanks.

EDIT: The website is up, no need for that anymore. Thanks for the website.

One thing about Minty as well as the rest of these fine themes is I find the "Tray" icons to be a bit too small as compared to the "launcher" icons that you can add the the left-hand end of the Panel. In the default "Cinnamon" theme the Tray icons are the same size as the 'launcher' icons.

That's all fine and dandy as is but does anyone know what code I can change in the "cinnamon.css" files for these themes to increase the size of these Tray icons? I've looked through the Minty code for example and I can't find anything that seems to apply to that particular area. And some themes use 'px' for sizing and other themes use 'em'. Gets confusing after awhile. :D

Official theme site is up and away: http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/themes
Also pages for applets and extensions but those are empty at the mo.

I've reached a dead end with my custom theme as Cinnamon becomes noticeably laggy with gradients :( I guess that's why there are no themes with gradients in the panel pop-ups

Funny that. I've tried two new themes; FrostyMint and Space Odyssey. Cinnamon runs at approx. 50 to 56 MBs with all themes including Space Odyssey which includes background images for the Panel, menu and all popup menus as well, while FrostyMint, which uses gradients in it's green highlights I believe pushes Cinnamon to between 86 to 89 MBs. I wonder if that's a problem with muffin?

I've been using the Frost theme (thanks Daniel4lm) and I noticed notifications were blank (only a blank dark box appeared). You just need to add color: white to the #notification declaration around line 1100 in cinnamon.css.

I hope not to take over this thread, but I do not have a 'themes' folder'. It is possible I deleted it. Where does it go/belong in case I did that?

check your home folder and press ctrl+h (show hidden files\folders)

it's a hidden folder, it's named .themes (with the dot)!

I created a file called 'themes' in my home directory before I read this. I extracted "Dark Shine" and yet it does not show up in Cinnamon Settings. Did I screw things up by creating a new themes folder?

I got it. I did not put a dot in front of themes. That was easy, kind of. :D

I just uploaded my very first theme and the first time I've posted something for general use of the public. I'm curious for any feedback that would help me improve. Did I make any major goofs? Did I miss something that may work on my system but doesn't work on someone else's? Did I get the copyright's and licensing right?

The theme works on 1.20 but I believe the modal-dialogs and notification messages are only themed for more recent compiles from Cinnamon's github.

You can get the theme at Cinnamon Spices

Thanks!

question: some of the newer themes have been uploaded as .gz files instead of .zip files
i had no problem extracting the .zip files to Cinnamon Settings but no clue how to extract .gz files

i was wondering why this sudden switch to .gz and how do you extract .gz as it doesn't even look like a folder when you download it :?:
hope someone can give me a simple way of doing this...i am not that technically inclined...thanks :)

Right click on the .gz file and choose "extract here"

I tried that, but the file that extracts looks like a "metal shaped device" and not an actual folder, and when i copy and paste it to .themes it does not show up in Cinnamon Settings like the .zip files do....

extract the metal thing as well and there you go :)
clem mentioned this: It looks like our upload module only looks and retains the last extension...

Thank you, lurkatron that did it :D
Appreciate the solution...still, it would be easier if they would all come in as .zip would be quicker that way
but your suggestion certainly works...

I have a wish... :D

The very successful Orta theme has just been released for Gnome Shell (and Unity). It had been a full year my favorite with Gnome2 and, of course, I'd wish to see it landing in Cinnamon.

It seems somebody else than the original (Skies of Azel) author did this. Recommended installation using Gnome-tweak-tool.

I'm taking a stab at it. You can view my progress at here. Right now it's at an alpha stage. Just a quick question. The gnome shell version of Orta has some translucent dark glass aspects to it the dialogs, but gtk2 Orta seems very bright white backgrounds. On my system the top panel is black in gnome shell, but the images of Orta show the panel to be a bright white. Which do you prefer? I'm not sure if the difference that I see in gnome shell vs the original version of Orta is an artifact of my system or if it's a change in Orta's design.

EDIT: Turns out my system wasn't using Orta for gnome-shell theme even though I used the gnome-tweak-tool to change the theme. I had to use the dconf editor. Now I see exactly what is happening with the gnome-shell port. It makes a lot more sense now.
