Re: Cinnamon Themes
So this is what I've been helping with. Overall it looks better than the basis. Two minor pieces of constructive criticism.elbullazul wrote:Here's mine :

Here's a picture :
Play a bit more with the chromium/chrome rc to fix the menu up a bit (think I mentioned it but if you use it as chrome.css it still works on chromium and chrome also for those who like google for some reason).
The other thing that would be nice to add is the preview thumbnails. Just scroll down a little and read the section "Information for theme artists". http://segfault.linuxmint.com/2014/09/t ... namon-2-4/
Re: Cinnamon Themes
Thanks for the thumbnails advice! I was wondering how to do it, thanks for the tipPenn wrote:So this is what I've been helping with. Overall it looks better than the basis. Two minor pieces of constructive criticism.elbullazul wrote:Here's mine :

Article on a windows XP lookalike theme by clem on Segfault on August 17th:

Note that he's not so much impressed by the IDEA, but rather the execution of detail in the theme.

In this case, sorry for repeating. I know very little of English (learned it only at school), and using Google translate for translating and searching simultaneously is quite hard for me.
I can not upload themes on http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/themes because: "The filetype you are attempting to upload is not allowed." https://pp.vk.me/c622918/v622918447/22a ... p-mIEo.jpg .
But I try to upload a .zip file:
https://pp.vk.me/c622918/v622918447/22a ... Zfkwr0.jpg
On site cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/themes was written:
"8. Find help. If you need any help, don’t hesitate to chat with the Cinnamon developers on IRC at #linuxmint-dev on irc.spotchat.org".
If I go to this site, it answers "404 Not Found".
So, questions:
- How to upload this theme on site?
If you have not answer on this question, than:
- Where to write to get answer: how to upload my theme?
Thanks.
It seems to expect certain dimensions of your screenshot. Do a screenshot of your desktop and make sure it doesn't include dual screens.
Re: Cinnamon Themes
The theme I started tonight and almost finished, I used Tyr Jord icons for the moment, but I'll flat and sharp them today. Oh, and I put many hover effects that you can see on the second screenshot, better in live

Re: Cinnamon Themes
I have experienced this problem when trying to upload to Spices" because I tried to put things into the upload that didn't belong there. It's all in the way you package the theme. This is how I do it: I create a "Title" folder that is tagged with the name I gave the theme, then place the Cinnamon folder, (and it should only be titled cinnamon), into that one. You should only have what belongs in the Cinnamon folder in it: .png or .svg pixmaps, the .css file, and the metadata.json file. Try to make your thumbnail preview conform to the standard of size that the stock preview for LM is, (847 x 388 px in .png format with transparent background showing only the panel and calendar is best). You can add other things to the title folder such as GTK+; MDM splash; or Metacity themes. Basically what works in the .themes folder can be packaged together as long as they are in their own folders inside the title folder and don't exceed the 10 Megabite max total, (except the MDM which needs to be compressed as a .tar.gz file and not placed in its own folder to work, just dropped into the title folder). Fonts, cursors, and icons, etc. cannot be uploaded, surprisingly wallpapers in a folder can. Anything more and you should consider uploading to one of the many Linux file sharing sites.

It's nice. But I used to my theme: Glass Mint: https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/themes/view/150artik wrote:The theme I started tonight and almost finished, I used Tyr Jord icons for the moment, but I'll flat and sharp them today. It was based on bimsebasse's themes: Ambiance Mint, Ubuntu. I use Cinnamon from it's creation, remember the certification of themes for new versions =)
From straight that times I make theme for myself, if something will annoy me - I'll change it.
There are 8 modifications of it so I use python script to create "cinnamon.css" for modifications with different colors,
shell script to backup them into another folder and to .zip archives.
I can share it with everybody, who don't know how to write them =)
Soon I'll write scrip that will create the same "cinnamon.css" with certain modifications and/or with ability to left unchanged some items.

Hello minters!
I am new to the community and I am really very happy. I can not understand WHY we use the Windows despite the fact that Mint is a so usefull and user friendly OS with so many themes!

Hello Everyone,
I love this theme very much. My blogger idol "Gustavo Woltmann" uses this theme in his laptop and I am really speechless to see this theme and color combination of this.
Then I also use this Cinnamon Theme in my desktop too
Thank you for creating this superb thread. Please throw some review of such kind of theme.
Have a nice day.

Reason: Please be very selective in using large fonts. It distracts from what you're saying.

Which "theme" are you talking about?

Re: Cinnamon Themes
A heads up on two really nice third party themes which include working Cinnamon themes.
Adapta - Pic is the Dark Variant
Github - https://github.com/adapta-project/adapta-gtk-theme
PPA - ppa:tista/adapta
Arc - The Mint-Y theme is based of this - but I like the colours on the original better - deep blues rather than black. Menu is snazzier that Mint-Y aswell. Dark Variant Pictured Below.

Re: Cinnamon Themes
System 76 POP theme. Nice variant of Adapta
Github: https://github.com/pop-os/gtk-theme - The ppa listed here won't install the theme on Mint 18.2 - there is an unresolvable dependency. Also, it doesn't appear that there is a Cinnamon theme included in the build.
However the version from noobslab ppa:noobslab/themes works just fine and included a cinnamon theme as-2ell as the GTK build.

Re: Cinnamon Themes
A popular theme is Minty. I really got a shock when I first started using it. It is unlike any other I have used except perhaps the high contrast setting in "Accessibility". The calendar is exceptional with a green back lit date and is very easy to see.
I did make a couple other changes which alter the theme. Borders, icons, etc.. See photo.
Notice how easy it is to read/operate Pinta with the letters in white and the controls in various colors (click the photo twice for a really close shot of the controls).
PLEASE CLICK PHOTO TO ENLARGE

Re: Cinnamon Themes
That is not the "dark variant" of Adapta. I just loaded that and get the white menu. Would like to find a link to the dark variant. The second link is called arc-theme. Also, the photo of the dark version does not link.smurphos wrote:System 76 POP theme. Nice variant of Adapta

Is Nokto the dark variant you refer to? I have that.
Re: Cinnamon Themes
Nokto is for the dark theme. From your sceenshot "Window Borders" are set to "Bright" it should be "apdapta-nokto" from the list of Window Borders.
Also if you want it complete like the author intended you need the icon set called: Paper Icon Set. You can get it here: https://snwh.org/paper/download Just download the Debian version for the .deb file, its easy.

Here's a picture :
Would someone please supply the code for adjusting transparency of the menu. The code supplied earlier in this thread does not work for me. Thanks.
EDIT: oops, I see that is a very old post and have since found that transparent themes are already there in 18.3 Cinnamon. They are from Cinnamox.
EDIT: Cinnamox has several new themes on 18.5 and some have a semi-transparent Menu Panel. They are well worth the wait as they are executed well. The Cinnamox- Aubergene-Transparent theme is now my favorite theme with Eleganse as a close second.
