[SOLVED] Cinnamon startup error after installing Plank

Hey,

I am getting an error notification every time I start Linux Mint. The error started after I installed Plank, and added it as a startup item.. I tried adding a few second delays to plank startup (5, 10, and 20 seconds), but none of the delays resolved the error. I also tried changing the startup entry from 'plank' to '/usr/bin/plank', but it made no difference.. :(

System: Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon (64bit)
Error:
Problems during Cinnamon startup

Cinnamon Started successfully, but one or more applets, desklets or extensions failed to load.

Check your system log and the Cinnamon LookingGlass log for any issues. You can disable the offending extension(s) in Cinnamon Settings to prevent this message from recurring. Please contact the developer.

Plank starts up at boot fine despite the error, so it is pretty weird that I am receiving it. :?
I tried googling it and was unable to find a solution.. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :wink:

I don't think this is anything to so with plank.

Check the output of cat ~/.xsession-errors | grep LookingGlass for an error relating to a cinnamon extension, applet or desklet.
For custom Nemo actions, useful scripts for the Cinnamon desktop, and Cinnamox themes visit my Github pages.

Hey,
Thanks for looking into this for me. I checked the log and it looks like it is showing a desklet error.. Im not sure what the desklet is that it is reffering to- 'launcher@cinnamon.org/2' ..?

I only have one personalized desklet installed, it is laucher with the command 'cinnamon-session-quit --power-off'. I dont think that could be causing it though- I have the same launcher setup on two other Linux Mint Cinnamon PCs, and they dont receive the error. This PC is the only one that has Plank installed though, so that is why I assumed it was the culprit..
Any ideas what that error could be reffering to? Thanks again!

I just figured it out! The desklet I was reffering to was actually an applet, which made me realize that I shouldnt have any desklets installed..
So I checked desklets and it turns out that the desklet launcher that I thought was my shutdown applet, was actually just an empty desklet launcher.. :roll:
Im not sure how that happened.. lol.. but I removed it and now I have no errors! 8)
