Compiz settings won't take effect

Postby hurinth » Fri Aug 03, 2012 7:20 pm

Hello, I went through this tutorial: http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/919

But no matter what I do, each time I open the CCSM, it behaves as if it has never been opened before, and nothing I click in there to enable for example Window Decoration and stuff will take effect.

I think my nVidia drivers are present because I have the NVIDIA X Server Settings installed.

Any idea?

Linuxmint Maya Mate 64bit

Thanks

I have you tried to start compiz from the command line:

$ compiz --replace

From the tutorial....
Make sure you did this. :?:

There is some things you have to do to get Compiz work.

1. In a terminal window run this command

Code: Select all

 compiz --replace

(When you want Compiz start automatic you can open Control Center -> Startup Applications, and add a new startup entry called "Compiz" by keeping the same command compiz --replace.)

Similar to this.

2. The CPU usage now raises a lot. That is because there is two competing window-managers running.
To stop that high CPU usage in MATE when running Compiz:

In a terminal run

Code: Select all

mateconf-editor

When the editor opens:
Go to:
/desktop/mate/session/required_components/windowmanager
and replace "marco" with "compiz"
.

Return to “Compiz, Conky, Docks, & Widgets”
