Simple conky. 3 blocks.

On top my connections. In and out.
Left bottom, the system messages.
And on the right some information about my system.

You can download them here

Note: Follow readme for instructions, all I did was follow it to the letter and it worked fine.

Ja.

guessing the omg ubuntu looked something like this: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/12/fae ... -bar-linux
which links to source(and readme): https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1115226/

so it looks like the omgubuntu article never shows the source configs or art, bummer. -and neither does mmesantos1. so I guess it's just bragging rights. ;)

I wasnt satisfied with any conky clock i found, so i make this.

Image

Just copy folder to 'etc/conky' and run 'start-stop.sh' to test widget.
I hope you know how to make it autostart.
You can change colors in lua script if you want to match it with your background.
You can drag conky with ALT+ LEFT CLICK.

I finally got my 'Minty-Green' modified Lua clock and text Conky looking more or less how I think it will end up, after a bit of trial, and a lot of error during the learning phase.

Here it is on Mint 20.3 XFCE :)
The IP being in a different colour is deliberate. It tells me at a glance which (if any) of my VPNs (I use two) I have running.

I really only need RAM and Disk info, and what , my CPU is up to, along with my Net stuff.

Clock rings are probably obvious (I hope). Green = Hours, Orange = Minutes, Red = Seconds

Now 'That' is one of the most interesting things I've seen done with LUA.

Re: Conky Showoff thread

Post by rossdv8 »

When I decided yo get out of programming, I said that after almost exactly half a century of coaxing computer hardware of so many different types into doing weird stuff they were not designed to do, using software written by people exploring limits - I'd had enough.
Then people start showing me stuff to play with!
I'm not interested in writing code of any sort, yet in the last 10 years since dropping out I've had to play with bootstrap, flexbox and other advances in css, javascript and such on business websites I'm stuck maintaining (thankfully only a couple now).

I had heard of Conky before, but until this year I never tried playing with it. While I haven't written anything 'original' for it, I have modified enough that I now have a nice simple conky with a nice clock and just the bare info that I need.

Then you share code. .
That I can play with!
Aaaargh !

(Thanks BTW) :D
