Hello,
I have seen several pictures of people's desktops where the CPU stats are there right on their desktop. Is there a command to install such a detailed oriented program other than the desklet feature?

Conky is probably the most popular application for that. Very, very customizable though, which can either be viewed as a good or bad thing depending on how much you like to tinker.
