${exec cat /etc/issue} which will come out weird. Or save a script what gets it for you

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
grep -i desc /etc/lsb-release | cut -d = -f 2 | sed 's/"//g'

I'm curious about that thing too, it's so rad looking!
It is gnome-terminal embedded there with compiz.

mmesantos1 how do you get your AWN bar to match color schemes with your backgrounds? And the icons to match as well?

If you go to the themes option on AWN settings then go to customize button you can click on the Panel Colors, just make sure Use GTK color theme is unchecked. As far as icons I just try to find the best icons to match the wallpaper, that takes some hunting gnome-look.org or you can just customize each icon on the AWN dock from any icon theme you may have installed.

SeanBest,
In response to your question about customisable icons....
There is an app called Magicons available in Synaptic Package Manager which provides a few sets of icons which can be customised.
There are some extra icon sets available on http://www.gnome-look.org - just type magicons in the search box.
This app is very easy to use, just takes a bit of practice. :P

Another option is the Any Colour You Like icons from http://www.gnome-look.org again it provides icon sets which can be customised with colour and gradients. The menu for customisation is accessed using a simple bash script which is available on the download page.(If you have any trouble finding the bash script, post back and I'll post it on here)
This is,perhaps,a little trickier, but again gets easier with a bit of practice. :P
Hope that helps.

Hello
It's going to take me a long time to get through this topic, I've only just loaded Mint on an old pc and I'm inspired now! Though I don't think I'll match any of the ones i've seen here

Hello Going Postal,
Glad you are enjoying all the desktops posted here.
Take your time, try things out, take inspiration from what others are doing, adapt it to your own needs and preferences, and before long you will be pleased with the results you are getting.
Feel free to post your own screenshots and if you can't figure out how to do something just ask - someone will probably know.
Have fun :D
