So far I've only run Mint 9 RC from the Live CD but as my wireless worked out of the box and I haven't spotted any major issues it will be installed alongside Mint 8 very soon.
I was thinking along the same lines - pick one of the default wallpapers and see what I can do :P
Can't wait to see your screen shot oscar799! :)

I'm working on installing Mint 9 now, here's Mint 8 Metacity on the XFCE edition (you can choose between xterm, xfce or gnome on login for those of you wondering what I'm going on about).

It's the Project Red theme and the Black-Red icon set. Both are on Gnome-Look.org

@mmesantos1
Excellent Mint desktop. Could you favour me with the names of the components in the green & black theme used in the desk shot on this page (111) titled 'Another Mint9 screenshot'

1. Dock type & theme - Docky, AWN etc?
2. Wallpaper name ?
3. Icon set name ?

This is exactly how I want my Mint9 to look.

Thankyou if you can help.

I just installed Mint 9, anyone want to recommend themes or conky scripts for me?

There is a lot. http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/48 I've tried to write a tutorial on how to get the rings working. Basically, download the lua script and add it into the .conkyrc (Which I call .conkytest on this computer for some reason). I use two conkys on the bottom, I could use one. But two is easier to update.

All the files used by my conky are available in this directory, remember to put dots in front of conkyleft, conkyright and conkytest as they are the config files. Conkyleft and ConkyRight are the two at the bottom of the screen and are started by the conky1.sh script at startup. Conkytest is the widget at the top and is started by the conky2.sh script at startup. http://cogigo.com/scripts/conky/

Wait, you can make multible conkys? Do they all have to be called .conkyrc or can you call them whatever you want as long as it begins with .conky?
