Very Nice Aging Technogeek. I was wondering why you used both awn and docky. I have used them both in the past, but not at once.

And why keep the window list on the panel once you've added the dock? Many of the screenshots in this thread have both and I always wonder what people find is wrong with the dock to require keeping the window list. Are the docks used mainly as launchers rather than for task switching? Does the reduction of screenspace from a dock mean people are inclined to make them autohide and therefore require a visible indicator for open applications?

Similarly someone could ask me why I still use a panel (tint2) with gnome-shell. Sometimes it's just easier to switch tasks the "traditional" way than to activate the overlay.
You've seen the gtk/icon/metacity theme before but it has the tint2/conky panel I just mentioned and I can't post here without a screenshot.

I use both for convenience. I like the look and feel of the AWN dock, but it is a little bit time consuming to load app launchers onto the dock. I use AWN for apps that I am likely to need at any time and not likely to change often. AWN is my working dock.

Docky is easier to change around if needed, so this is my play dock. All I have on Docky (other than a few docklets) is the games I play regularly. Nothing big, just board and arcade type games from Gnome games and KDE games. The advantage is, if I want to delete a game and/or add a new one, it's just a drag and drop.

The advantage is, if I want to delete a game and/or add a new one, it's just a drag and drop.

I think that docky, which has some great ideas but is very young and with a few glitches, should merge with awn, which is more stable and tried. I have used both and prefer docky's drag-and-drop and easy config options, but like the way awn can be configured uniquely and totally. there should be a merge. anyway, awn isn't a dock its a window navigator, so a merge wouold make some kind of super ultimate dock-navigator

Thanks Katz, so far so good. Most of the test went well. Runs quicker than Mint Gnome Main. Much lighter system on resources. I can't wait to see final release.
