Mint MATE 20.1
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
I am un-familiar with LXDE but am interested in learning. I just can't see the utility of the desktop you show.tdockery97 wrote:My Mint 11 LXDE rc as of today:<<snip>>
For example, I am sure you need to see your network status without opening the system monitor. You must need the date and a calendar? How do you access the long lost programs that you know you installed six months ago, and now need to find again? Maybe these are all right click item's?
Where does your update icon or dropbox icon display? How do you switch virtual desktops when you want to push one window out of the way?
I know you are an experienced user, so I expect you will have answers to my questions, but I think they still need asking.
Is this a real working desktop with all that you need for everyday work?

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
To answer your last question first, yes it is. As far as most of the other items, my panel is at the top and is set to autohide. It has the usual time/date/calendar, network icon, volume control, Mint Update icon, and Menu bar. Most apps I use are on the Awn Dock.

@Garvan: it looks like he's using a mainly terminal-controlled system so he doesn't need those things.. maybe he's using a *Box-like rightclick-menu either, like it's standard at openbox and fluxbox (f.e.).

i've posted this screens some sites ago... and still using it (on my notebook)
Short info for the guys who posted screens for my vid (marc, lou and mintmaniac): i'm about ~40% for now, i've gotta lot of work the last few days, therefore i couldn't really work on this, but I do so when i've got a bit more time.

It is interesting the way we create complex and powerful tools to save us
from the complex and powerful tools we created previously.

Thanks. Without the top panel - which is hidden - the desktop looks almost unusable, so I hope you will understand why I asked.tdockery97 wrote:To answer your last question first, yes it is. Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
artouk, you need to use another host for your screenshots. Adult content is coming up on that site that is inappropriate and breaks the forum rules. Your screenshots themselves are fine but the host is not acceptable. Please use another host to post your screenshots.
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
ah right, as I direct linked to the file I thought it would be fine.. but no worries.
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
artouk, I appreciate you fixing the links. Much better!
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
