One thing I find awesome about Linux is that you don't have to upgrade to get these special effects and nice desktops, it's all for free. With Windows, it's quit the opposite.
Yeah the appearance settings are a huge plus for me. The sheer amount of themes available is just one aspect - I've seen forums where Windows users talk about torrents for cracked versions of themes.
