Thank you Lou and Exploder. Still running MEPIS, like it that much. It just works. Everything worked out of box. NO tweaking or anything. Hands down one of the best KDE OS's I have run, even better than Chakra or PC-BSD. This is a keeper of an OS. Very stable and fast. Even the default theme was not to bad. :D
Mepis was the first distro I ran as my day to day system, the hardware support has always been very good. The Mepis community repo provides updates for popular packages too.
Is the Community repo something you have to manually add or is it active by default Exploder.

You have to add the community repo yourself I think. There is a section in the Mepis forum for the community repo, the Mepis guide and the wiki should have all the information you need. Mepis has some of the very best documentation out there.

Thank you Exploder, I will take a look at the documentation for MEPIS. I am enjoying this OS for sure. It is a breathe of fresh air and a joy to use. :D

May 2011 Desktop

Here's mine - I haven't really pimped it out much; just changed from the default theme and picked a different background (those green ones were getting repetitive):

You can get this wallpaper from http://yearzero.nin.com/wallpaper/index.html - it's the second downloadable pack.

If you're wondering what the username's all about, it's a song I really dig off an album called "Jalamanta" by Brant Bjork - it's also the name of his record label.

EDIT: Seems this forum doesn't resize images... I guess you'll have to resize them yourselves before uploading them.

Well first of thank you all for helping me integrate with linux, i recently switched from windows to Linux Mint 9 as the main OS (tried a few more but 9 fit more what i wanted) and i'm really loving it, file transfer is better, scaling is definitely impressive compared to windows, well to cut it short i really like what i'm seeing all that is left to see is if stability in time will also be good :P (though i do keep a spare 7 secluded on the HDD for when Mass Effect 3 or some other game will show up).

So anyway here are my desktops:

Desktop 5 (separate account for games since they don't get along to good with compiz but since user switching is almost instant its np):

and this is what's left of my 7 tuned only for performance:

ivan_rookie, your lower panel, whatever you are using, looks awesome! The wallpaper looks cool with your setup too. Nice! :D

Photo of Abrams Creek was posted by Brian Shults on Facebook in May of 2011. I wish someone would contact Brian about using it as one of the Mint 11 desktop photos. It sure is the right color!

Thanks, man. The panel I'm using is a simple screenlet (package 'screenlets') called PlacesScreenlet v0.1 by Helder Fraga aka Whise.
The wallpaper is Green Stripes, but flipped horizontally.
