Linux Mint 16 'Petra' Cinnamon;
Works perfectly, still wish the developers would include the good ol' 'Applications / Places / Settings' Menu

Please see this applet: http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/51Scene wrote:Linux Mint 16 'Petra' Cinnamon;

I am going to break it up into three applets and provide updates for Cinnamon 2.0 when I have the time, unless I can get the developer to accept the changes I've made to my local version.

That applet is not compatible with Cinnamon 2.0
Re: All Desktop Screenshots - December 2013
I think you might find it is compatible with Cinnamon 2.0. This screenshot is taken from my ArchLinux box and the corresponding Cinnamon packages are:
This is an unconventional applet in that you have to install it manually (that is, installing it through Cinnamon's applet manager will fail). Here are the instructions from that page on how to install it:
Code: Select all
» claire╺─╸[~] pacman -Qs cinnamon
local/awesome-cinnamon 0.1-2
Setup awesome as window manager of Cinnamon 2.0
local/cinnamon 2.0.14-1
Linux desktop which provides advanced innovative features and a traditional
user experience
local/cinnamon-control-center 2.0.9-1
The Control Center for Cinnamon
local/cinnamon-desktop 2.0.3-1
Library with common API for various Cinnamon modules
local/cinnamon-screensaver 2.0.3-3
Screensaver designed to integrate well with the Cinnamon desktop.
local/cinnamon-session 2.0.6-1
The Cinnamon Session Handler
local/cinnamon-settings-daemon 2.0.8-1
The Cinnamon Settings daemon
local/cinnamon-translations 2.0.3-1
Translations for Cinnamon and Nemo
local/cjs 2.0.0-1
Javascript Bindings for Cinnamon
local/muffin 2.0.5-1
Cinnamon window manager based on Mutter
local/nemo 2.0.8-1
Cinnamon file manager (Nautilus fork)
They do work. I have also done this on my Linux Mint box, but I'm too lazy reboot my machine after compiling kernels for ArchLinux.bownz wrote: INSTALL!
1.) Extract the .zip, and open "Linux Mint Applets" or "Ubuntu Applets" based on your distro, and move GnomeMenu@bownz, GnomePlaces@bownz and GnomeSystem@bownz folders to ~/.local/share/cinnamon/applets or /usr/share/cinnamon/applets.
2.) As root, copy org.cinnamon.applets.GnomeMenu.gschema.xml to /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/
3.) Open terminal, and run the command sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas
4.) Open Cinnamon settings and enable all the "Gnome-like"-labeled Applets.
5.) ENJOY:)
Re: All Desktop Screenshots - December 2013
I concur with her instructions Brahim. I tested them myself and they indeed do work. you do have to restart cinnamon before you activate the apps though as it will lock up your system if you don't,otherwise they work perfectly

Re: All Desktop Screenshots - December 2013
My Christmassy Linux Mint 16 with Cinnamon and Cairo Dock. What an absolutely beautiful desktop this makes imho. I'm so pleased I chose this as the reason to remove Windows finally.
Theme is Numix with a very simple Cairo Dock alteration to make it match. I am in love.

Re: All Desktop Screenshots - December 2013
And Merry Xmas to you, Condorman
Here is my Xmas desktop.

To get the frosted transparent menu, I used the Ergo Md Theme, and just added these lines (copied from the Win7 Theme).
.menu-background {
border: inset 1px solid rgba(20,20,20,0.5);
background-gradient-direction: vertical;
background-gradient-start: rgba(80,108,150,0.7);
background-gradient-end: rgba(170,200,255,0.7);
box-shadow: 1px 1px 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,0.0);
border-radius: 8px;
border-radius-bottomright: 0px;
border-radius-bottomleft: 0px;
background-bumpmap: url("/usr/share/cinnamon/bumpmaps/frost.png");
}
I simply pasted those lines into /Home/user/.themes/Ergo Md/cinnamon/css/menu.css on line 5, right after
/* Main menu title */
That is it - nothing more to change. I did change some colors here and there - but that is optional.
Works with Mint 16 Cinnamon and Mint 13 Cinnamon.
