All Desktop Screenshots > 2nd Half of 2015

Post by vrkalak » Mon Jul 06, 2015 4:07 pm

REMINDER: from the Forum Staff:

Please continue to use clickable-thumbnails linking to the larger image -- to help those with slower connections.

Many image-hosting sites will automatically generate 'clickable-thumbnails' for you, as well.

An example of the BBC code needed is below.

Code: Select all

Code: Select all

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The forum now has an option to resize images to 320x240 pixels using "rimg" tags.
This gives a large enough image to display clearly but doesn't cause a problem for those with slow connections
You can insert a pair of such tags with the "rimg" button, which sits rightmost on the row of buttons above the text field where you type your message.

Upload your image to an image hosting site then paste the URL of the "Direct" or "Download Image" link between the rimg tags.

Code: Select all

Code: Select all

 [rimg]http://link.to.your.image[/rimg]
This posts on the forum a 320x240 pixel clickable image which links to your original-sized image.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Thank you - for your continued support of LinuxMint.

Thanks Ginsu543! :D I was hoping for some feedback! My 73 year old mother is running Windows 7, it has become painfully slow and is a total mess.... I am wanting to let her try Linux Mint Cinnamon on my laptop to persuade her to consider it. I will of course re-install Windows for her if that is her wish but I would like her to see Cinnamon at it's best so to speak.

My mother could do everything she now does with Linux Mint and Cinnamon still has the look and feel she is familiar with. Her Windows install is trashed from downloading software and updates that add things she does not want or need. I really believe Linux Mint Cinnamon would better suit her needs and eliminate the problems she has. My mom does play some games but the type of games she enjoys are plentiful under Linux. Currently, she has all kinds of junk popping up on her screen and it's a battle to keep the system running.

All my mom's hardware on her Gateway laptop is supported in LMDE 2, even her high end HP printer. She likes shortcuts all over her desktop and she can still have them with Cinnamon. She already uses Firefox and Thunderbird so there is no learning curve there. She likes puzzle type games and they are plentiful so no problem there.

My goal is to let her try a very polished Cinnamon desktop and let her decide what would work best. :D

Your other option, if your mother INSISTS on Windows, is to install Windows as a virtual machine inside VirtualBox on a Linux Mint machine. You can then show her how to boot into Windows through VirtualBox. If she ends up trashing her Windows, no worries, all you have to do is keep a copy of the .vdi (virtual disk image) file of the Windows virtual machine somewhere safe and then just copy that file back into VirtualBox. This will allow you to restore her setup almost instantaneously.

@ Crewp

Your screen shot is too tiny! Try this site for hosting images.

The site is free and supplies the forum codes to make a clickable image. I kinda wanted to see what your desktop looked like! :D
