sudo apt install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fyrmir/livewallpaper-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install livewallpaper livewallpaper-config livewallpaper-indicator

Thank you for the share. It is good to have such an option for showcasing Linux to friends and family.

I wonder if you happen to experience any performance loss, slowdown and such while using it.

On a side note, the app doesn't seem to support desktop icons by Nemo file manager (only Nautilus).

I wonder if it can play mp4, avi and other video files as well as gifs?

I still use xwinwrap because it lets me choose just about any file and choose whether i want sound or not.
Xwinwrap doesn;t work very well with icons on the desktop. I am also wondering if it will work at all once Mint and everything else moves over to Wayland.
For now, xwinwrap lets me have pretty flexible options, like (as long as I don;t mind slowing down a bit) a different movie on each workspace. Not that I bother.

Anyway, I for one am interested to see alternatives like this 'livewallpaper-daily' idea for the day when moving to Wayland means xwinwrap is no longer available.
Current main OS: MInt 21.3 with KDE Plasma 5.27 (using Compiz as WM) - Kernel: 6.5.0-15 on Lenovo m900 Tiny, i5-6400T (intel HD 530 graphics) 16GB RAM.
