Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2022
Nice! Is that the famous WinXP 'Bliss' wallpaper I spy? I found an article online once years ago where the photographer went back to the exact same place he had originally taken that picture years later and took another photo he called Bliss2...the field is actually part of a winery if memory serves! here's Bliss2:user6c57b8 wrote: ⤴Sun May 22, 2022 6:11 pm Debian 11.3 XFCE edition liveUSB/liveOS booted from a liveUSB and at grub I added 'toram' so I can remove my USB when the OS loads.
I 700%love mint though. I have 8GB of RAM. I store all installation deb files on my hard drive partition just in case my computer/PC/laptop shuts down.

One of my favorites was a black/orange theme and a glossy black theme - I used both of them on my little MSI Wind U100 netbook and my Athlon XP desktop back in the day:

Nice screenshots! How old are those screenshots exactly? (haha)darkstrike wrote: ⤴Tue May 24, 2022 5:32 pm I used both of them on my little MSI Wind U100 netbook and my Athlon XP desktop back in the day:
Nero..Winamp 5.56 ("Date Released: Jul 1, 2009").
So I'm guessing 2011-2012? So 9+ years old? That's legendary!

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2022
The WinXP netbook screenshot with the black glossy taskbar would be from 2007 and the other WinXP screenshot with the orange/black taskbar would be 2009user6c57b8 wrote: ⤴Wed May 25, 2022 6:34 pmNice screenshots! I have a thing I do where I take random screenshots of my desktop every so often for fun as a sort of archive of the way my tastes and layouts have changed over the years...it's kindof a nerdy, fun personal archive
2004 is my earliest Windows screenshot (WinXP Professional on that same Athlon XP desktop PC I mentioned earlier, and my earliest Linux one is from a Puppy Linux 4.1 install I had in around 2008 on a Virtual Machine back when I was using VMs to get started learning about Linux My earliest Linux screenshot from me actively using it as a daily operating system would be Linux Mint 14 Nadia on that same MSI Wind U100 netbook after I decided to replace Windows XP on it and that screenshot would be around 2013.
The 2004 one - the monitor program that is open in the screenshot was the hardware monitor for that PC's brand of motherboard, Soltek, which went out of business in 2007 and stopped making motherboards in 2005: The 2008 Puppy Linux one - it was a custom theme I created in red/black and orange The 2013 Linux Mint 14 one

Although there is something about Puppy Linux that makes it so unique.
Like software I've never seen anywhere else.
I think like the text editor, certain programs on the Desktop.
I only put about 3 effective hours in Puppy Linux. It was XenialPup and maybe a slightly older version.
I couldn't get i386 programs to install and run though..so I couldn't play Diablo II on wine.

Restrictive EULAs launched the search for the perfect alternative. So, yeah, thanks for that..........

LMDE RYzen Edition to go with this, the ring is now swirling orange instead of white on the wraith prism.
Using Mint Yz Dark-Orange Theme and Dark-Red Icons, Mint Y titlebars.

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2022
I'm inclined the opposite way, and for completely different reasons.Speaking for myself, I hate a cluttered desktop and if it is cluttered I can't find what I'm looking for so end up using the system menu anyway.
I have a huge monitor (55 inch) compared to many other Minties. I have several computers connected top that single screen, so I make extensive use of Virtual Deskrops, and within those, of VNC.
That involves quickly switching from VD to VD frequently as I move from task to task. I also find common task links on panels and docks are more quickly and easily accessible than using the menu.
To that end, I have a panel along the Right edge of the screen that leaves space at the top and bottom of it, making a nice quick access spot to scroll on my mouse wheel to move to the next Workspace. Obviously I have a Desktop Pager on one panel, but I tent to use that more to let me see at a glance which App is open on what VD. Moving to the next one just seems intuitive moving the mouse to the right and scrolling the wheel.
The neat thing about Mint and other Linux distros is that we have all these options. Mint just does it better than some . .
Current main OS: MInt 21.3 with KDE Plasma 5.27 (using Compiz as WM) - Kernel: 6.5.0-15 on Lenovo m900 Tiny, i5-6400T (intel HD 530 graphics) 16GB RAM.
