MATE for my daily driver.
Cinnamon's installed but I've been sticking to MATE exclusively for months.
Definitely my favorite DE, especially the start menu.
The wallpaper is stolen from Arco Linux.

That "Now Playing" is a Conky script that I got somewhere and modified (If anyone wants it I can post it). It works with Pianobar (I use it with Pandora). I actually had Sunamu installed but I could not get it to work with Pandora. It looks really nice though.Bleys wrote: ⤴Tue Jan 31, 2023 3:13 amNice!

A self-built Conky version that fetches the data via mpris, I currently still have in use.Wolvrik wrote: ⤴Tue Jan 31, 2023 6:58 pm That "Now Playing" is a Conky script that I got somewhere and modified (If anyone wants it I can post it). But my version can only support one player at a time (currently Clementine).
Sunamu has the advantage that this tool works practically with every player that supports mpris and that are almost all.

conky.config = { . . default_bar_width=139, default_bar_height=6, . . };
With some players, such as Audacious, additional settings are required in the player.
Audacious creates an own name for the cover of each title, but also offers the possibility to send a bash command when changing the title.

When Clementine isn't running, or there is no song playing, what does Conky do?

Hi!
Here is my LM 21.1 Xfce.
At first you maybe think, that it is pretty much straight out of the box.
But if you look closer, I tweaked Mint-Y theme, by changing accent color to little darker.
I also decreased header bars height (also csd windows), to save some screen space.
Now, when i know how to tweak the ascent color, i can easily do what ever accent Mint-Y-version i want in 5 mins, and also keep low headers intact.
Of course, the true accent for Mint is green, and I think, it looks pretty ok here. New default, blue, is little cold for me.

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2023
I've been taking a break from the forum for a while, but I thought I might share another foray into TUD Adventures with a new variety of transparency.
In the past, almose all my transparent or translucent File Managers or Apps have relied on QT widgets. This time it is more native to Xfce. I finally got a Transparent Thunar happening - something totally useless, but which has been eluding me for a couple of years
My poor old built in iNtel graphics won't do blurring in GTK stuff, although it can handle it in QT, so there must be something I haven't fixed yet. But it is one more thing I can tick off my theming 'secrets' list.

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2023
I didn't do the Icons or the actual design of the Thunar theme. I just found a setup that looked close to the way i wanted I to, then tweaked some stuff.
I really needed text that would stand out on most wallpapers, so I dug into the themes and decided since my Conky and Panels and stuff are green (because I decided to go green when we got a new Mint 20 at the time I did the conky.
So I kept playing with the code to get the bright green text under the icons etc.
So, back to the question. The icons are called 'Learning to Fly' and are available on either Pling or one of the other 'look' type sites.
I'm still having the usual dramas with a few things in Mint 21.1 Plasma - but most of it works fine.
And my CrashDive is working. So I can switch 'Live' to and from Mint Xfce and Plasma without rebooting or even logging out and in again.
I'm a Happy Puppy again
Mint 21.1 Plasma Desktop - Feb 2023
Still got a glitch with the text and background on a few things like this Info Dialog:
Mint 21.1 Plasma desktop and Calligra Words, with transparency
Calligra is no longer maintained, but it has most things needed anyway and is simpler to use that LibreOffice for easy jobs.
Mint 21.1 Plasma Desktop and the usual transparent Dolphin image
Dolphin is still my favourite File Manager (for over 20 years) whether it is on Plasma or on Xfce, Cinnamon etc. It has some neat tricks, like synchronising Directory contents across several computers on LAN or WAN.
Mint 21.1 Plasma Desktop
Plasma has a simple elegant Menu
I'm NOT advocating that Mint should return to supporting Plasma - Just showing screenshots of one of the desktops I use.
Everything still works nicely (using Mint Xfce as the starting point) including Compiz, Video Wallpaper and other weird stuff I run.
The main thing I have to sort is that dark text on a dark background thing - when I find the CSS or whatever that is doing it.
The best thing that came out of messing with this is being able to 'Hot Swap' between plasma and Xfce desktops with one mouse click.

Just for fun, and hot on the heels of finding a Theme combination that allowed me to have a transparent Thunar in Mint 21.1 Xfce . .
Mint 21.1 Xfce with Firefox 110 and Transparent bits. Now I just have to tame the greeeen text monster! (and find a way to Blur the Transparency, like KDE does)
